Life Skills Curriculum
Ages 4–12
2–3 days per week
Scripted and easy to follow. No prep required.
Bring calm, connection, and life skills into your homeschool day.
A hands-on, open-and-go curriculum that helps kids calm down, communicate, solve problems, and build confidence, creating smoother, less overwhelming days at home.
Why Emotional Skills Matter for Learning:
Kids can only learn when their brain is calm and ready.
When children feel overwhelmed, frustrated, or anxious, their thinking brain goes offline, making it much harder to focus, problem-solve, or learn. This is often described as “flipping your lid,” where the emotional part of the brain takes over.
Based on brain research from experts like Dr. Dan Siegel, a UCLA psychiatry professor and author on brain development, we know that children need support regulating their emotions before they can fully access learning.
First regulate, then educate.
That’s why the first two ParentingEQ Life Skills Units focus on helping kids:
Identify their feelings
Learn simple ways to calm down
These foundational skills help children return to a calm, ready-to-learn state so everything else becomes easier.

What Does A Week Look Like?
Simple, flexible, and easy to fit into your homeschool routine. Each lesson introduces and reinforces the same skill in different ways through stories, activities, discussion, and hands-on experiences.
Kids don’t just hear the skill, they practice it in different ways so it sticks.
Example flow:
Day 1: Activity 1 (introduces and explores the skill)
Day 2: Activity 2 (builds understanding through a different approach)
Day 3: Optional: Enrichment activity for continued practice
Each activity helps kids connect with the skill in a new way, building confidence and deeper understanding over time.
10–30 minutes per lesson
Use 2–3 days per week
Follow the 36-week plan or choose skills based on your child’s needs
We recommend starting with Unit 1 (Feelings) and Unit 2 (Calming Strategies) to build a strong foundation.

Testimonials
"We use the games and activities all the time. It’s been a great way to talk about feelings and has improved behaviors."
- Lilliana, Homeschool Parent
"We started doing the lessons together, but what I love most is how my kids now use the tools on their own. I’ve seen such a shift, like doing the breathing exercises by themselves when they’re upset. It’s actually working!"
- Jessica, Homeschool Parent
"The games were SO fun and engaging! My kids felt like they were just playing, but I love that they were actually learning, too!"
- Kristin, Homeschool Parent
"This curriculum covered topics I didn’t even realize we needed to teach, but the difference in his behavior has been so noticeable.”
